Music Video Theatre 3000: Elton John

This week Derek makes it to the 80s, and encounters a relatively obscure (and definitely absurd) video from another one of the all-time greats. Prepare your giant shoes.

This video is also being hosted on MediaSlayerProductions.com, some very entertaining and informative reviews can be found there.

Don’t forget to leave comments, join the RSS feed, and share us with friends!

Finally, the new project will probably start on Thursday, I’m still prepping my library.

New Project

Right now I strive to post new videos on Tuesdays, and have been pretty successful at following that schedule thus far. I also had originally said that I would try to occasionally put up extra content on Thursdays, but since I feel I should have some original videos for our two affiliate sites those extra videos will be hosted over there instead. But I also want to have more content here to reward visitors.

So I had an idea while searching through my iTunes library. I currently have 2988 songs, which will actually change because I realized I have a few CDs that haven’t been ripped yet. But like anyone who’s put full albums in their iTunes instead of singles, there are songs in there that I have literally never heard.

So next weekk I’m going to start a new text series here on AU.com, wherein I will listen to a handful of songs each day and post my thoughts here in hopefully humorous fashion. My library is sorted by song title, so we shouldn’t normally have the same artist in a single day. There’s no definite schedule here, I won’t make it to my computer every day, and I won’t post a listening review on Tuesdays, that’s still video update day. So this is a MOSTLY daily feature. Guidelines: I can skip non-essential tracks like interludes, skits, and extended intros. I can also skip my stand up CDs, this series is about music.

This would be a swell time to remind you all of the RSS button, since again I don’t know which days I will be updating here. That big button on the side of the page will take you through FeedBurner, so you will need to click a second (and possibly third) time to actually subscribe.

I don’t know about all y’all but I’m excited!

Equals Awesome: Journey

I promised and I have delivered. What do you get when you cross Journey and Acapella music?

Also, since Tuesday we’ve added a third ‘friend’ to the blogroll. If you want to see some more critiques of just about everything under the sun, pop on over to MediaSlayerProductions.com

There may be content there that won’t end up here, so update your bookmarks folks! Oh, we don’t talk about bookmarking pages anymore? Oh. Sorry.

VLog March 23

Derek decides that him talking to his laptop is a better video than what was previously planned. What does that tell you about his original plan? Topics: schedule change, plugs, questions for you guys to answer. Sorry about the negligent quality.

MVT3K: Life on Mars?

This week on Music Video Theatre 3000, Derek finds himself adrift and runs into one of the greatest rock acts of all time. He then tries to entertain himself.

Special recognition to knowyourmeme.com for oh so important research.

AND…
Our partner site The Parody Files is finally up and running! Some very funny people are going to be working together to ensure daily giggles. This week you can sample them all before the updates begin!

They Might Be Giants in Five Measures

I wanted to have a CD review ready for you guys also today, but I forgot how much editing those require, so it’s tentatively scheduled for Thursday. In the meantime: TMBG’s recent output has been mostly educational songs for children, but anyone who’s been a longtime fan would not be surprised. They’re always teaching us about something!
